We are a team of young scholars with backgrounds in organic chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology and peptide chemistry.

Rafał Wieczorek (PI)

rafal2I received my Master degrees from the Departments of Biology and Chemistry at the University of Warsaw. Before coming back to Warsaw I did my PhD at Roma Tre University in Italy and spent my postdoc years at the University of Southern Denmark and at Harvard University in the US. I also had a short research stint at the University of Leeds in the UK. My career has always been driven by the questions of origin of life. In my group we tackle this illusive field  from many different angles and push the limits of our understanding ever further into the fascinating process which gave rise to life in the Universe. In my free time I dabble in Polynesian archeology.

Radosław Piast (PhD student)

radek2I received my Master degree in Microbiology from Warsaw University of Life Sciences. My scientific interests include: the origin of life, especially role of phosphate chemistry; the definition of life – grasping the vastness of living entities in one, short, elegant sentence; and potential use of pore-forming proteins  in fighting cancer. After a long day at the university, I like to relax with my break-dance crew.

Maciej Rzeczkowski (Master student)

maciek2I’ve just defended my Bachelor thesis at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Warsaw. When I’m not busy studying I practice my own sci-fi yoga.
